What the site collects

The site does not ask for your name, email or any other details. If you use the Email or LinkedIn buttons, your own email app or LinkedIn opens, and what you send is between you and me there.

To understand which pages are useful, the site uses the services below. They can set cookies or similar storage in your browser and receive your IP address, browser and device type, and approximate location.

Services the site uses

  • Google Analytics 4 measures visits and how pages are used: which pages you open, links you click, how far you scroll and how long you read. It does not receive what you type, and the site never sends your email address. Analytics data is kept for no longer than 14 months. Google's privacy policy.
  • Microsoft Clarity records how visitors move through pages (clicks, scrolling and mouse movement) as heatmaps and session replays, so layout problems can be found and fixed. Microsoft's privacy statement.
  • Ahrefs Web Analytics counts page views and where visitors come from (search engines, links and social sites), to see how the site is found. Ahrefs' privacy policy.
  • Google AdSense shows an ad on the homepage. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads, including ads based on your earlier visits to this and other sites where you allow it. How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
  • Google preferred sources: case studies and articles include Google's "Add to preferred sources" button, which loads a script from Google. If you click it, Google asks you to sign in to your Google account.
  • Google Fonts serves the site's typeface, so your browser requests it from Google's servers.
  • GitHub Pages hosts the site and may keep server logs, including IP addresses, for security. GitHub's privacy statement.

Your choices

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, you see a consent message on your first visit. Until you answer it, Google Analytics and AdSense run without cookies and ads are not personalised, and Clarity follows the same answer. You can change your choice at any time with the Privacy settings link in the footer.

Everywhere, you can:

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what data about you exists, and to have it corrected or deleted. The site itself stores no personal data. Data held by the services above is managed through their own tools and policies, linked in the list above. For anything about this site, write to me with the button below.

Changes

If the services this site uses change, this page changes with them, and the date at the top shows when.
